Install the QuickBooks database server

1.

Close all running programs on your dedicated file server computer, including antivirus programs that can interfere with the installation. After installation Press “ALT-F4 ” and close all running apps in Windows 8.

Insert QuickBooks CD in your optical drive and start the Setup program. If you have a downloaded version of QuickBooks, After double-click the installation file.

Click “Yes for all” when you are promoted to replace existing files. Click “Next” and accept the license agreement. Click “Next” again.

Select  “Custom and network Options” and choose the option that does not require a license and allows you to install only the files to share your business file on the network.

Select the “More than one user” option and “Install Database server only”. Follow the prompts that guide you through the installation. Select the option to allow access to other computers to open files on this computer. Click Next.  ”

Click “Install”. Click “Finish ” to open QuickBooks.

Click  “Scan folders ” tab in the QuickBooks database Server Manager.

Click the “Add Folder ” button and select the location where your business file is stored, or select the option to scan all folders if you are unsure. If you do not select this option, other users will not be able to open the enterprise file remotely.

When the scan is complete Scan Click “Scan ” and “Close “.

Configure access to the QuickBooks database server

Click On the menu “file ” and “Utilities ” in QuickBooks “.

Click the menu  “file “,  “utilities ” and  “host multi-user access” on the computer that you want to use for administrator access.

Click on the menu  “Company ” and “Configure users and Passwords “.

Select  “Configure Users ” and “Add User “.

Add a username and password, and then select the access options for the user and the transaction options to change or delete for the user. Click “Finish “.

6.

Open QuickBooks on every computer connected to the network. Click the menu  “file ” and  “open or restore ” Company.

Click “Open Company file ” and  “next “.

8.

Navigate to the network location where you stored your QuickBooks Database Server management file. Select the file and click “Open “.

9.

Enter the username and password assigned to each computer and log in.
